NaNoWriMo Day 0

I think the last time I did NaNoWriMo I was in middle school. I never finished the novel (I barely even started it), but I remember it being a fun project, and now with Discord we have several location-based communities. It's amazing how much things have changed since I last did it!

For those of you who don't know, the goal is to write 50,000 words by the end of November, which translates to roughly 1700 words per day. I have this very beautiful tracker that one of my viewers from Twitch made me (Shout out to ProximityFox aka Proxy <3). I'm posting the pictures here because it is stunning. Anyway, that's it! That's the whole challenge. It's simple but definitely difficult to stay consistent.

I guess the interesting thing about the whole process is that you find the best way that you write. I personally don't do well with more than a basic outline and then let myself just write. What does help me is having well rounded characters and letting them kind of live their life.

The story I'm planning to write is part of a three-story hockey romance arc (YES I KNOW, but it's on brand ya?) that revolves around three women who work with a team in Portland. The first is a social media manager and party girl who has a one-night stand with the team's goalie (a very serious guy) after a drunken night and ends up (of course) pregnant. What happens after we'll see but the worst part is that they actually hate each other lol.

I have a few plot points laid out, but honestly, I think this might be the last of the series instead of the first. The other two ladies are a sports photographer and a physical therapist/yoga instructor (books 1 and 2 respectively). Starting with three makes sense here because I have that female main character fleshed out the most, but she is will probably be the most hated because of how selfish she is.

Anyway, I'm so excited to start writing tomorrow! If I feel good about some parts, I might share them here so stay tuned for that. I will also be attempting to update my progress here once a week at least, but we'll see what I have time for with baby and writing.

Happy Halloween! 🎃
